REQUIREMENTS: The competition is open to composers of all ages and from all countries.A jury consisting of the directors of Málaga Clásica Festival and its artists will review all the applications and decide on the winners. The applicants will be informed of the result within two weeks after the deadline. Only works that have not been performed publicly yet, will be admitted. You can chose to participate in one, or both, of the following categories:
CATEGORY 1: Instrumentation: Two violins, double bass and piano
Duration: Approx. 10-15 min. total in length Inspiration: The piece should, from a personal viewpoint, draw inspiration of style or motivic material from one or more
of the following composers: Dmitri Shostakovich, Piotr Tchaikovsky, Modest Mussorgsky, Nikolay Rimsky-
Korsakov and Aleksandr Borodin. Works by these composers will be played in the same concert as the
premiere of the competition winner's work.
CATEGORY 2: Instrumentation: Tenor and string quartet
Duration: Approx. 10-15 min. total in length Inspiration: The piece should, from a personal viewpoint, draw inspiration from folklore, as one of the following
composers: Zoltan Kodaly, Edvard Grieg, David Monrad Johansen and Antonin Dvorak. Works by these
composers will be played in the same concert as the competition winner´s work.
PRIZES: - The winner in each category will receive a cash prize of 500 €. - The pieces will be premiered by international artists in the concerts on May 12th and May 13th inTeatro Echegaray in Málaga during
Festival Málaga Clásica.
