Tilman Mahrenholz received his musical training at the German Conservatory of Music in Saarbrücken and Essen, where he studied with Ulrich Voss and Christoph Richter. He continued his studies with Carter Brey, cello soloist of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at the prestigious Juilliard School of Music in New York.
A winner of three prizes at the German Youth Competition, Tilman Mahrenholz has participated in International Music Festivals such as the Bain de Musique Flaine and the Aspen Music Festival. There he was coached by professors such as Wolfgang Boettcher, Zara Nelsova, Lynn Harrell, the Alban Berg quartet and the quartet La Salle, among many others.
Tilman Mahrenholz currently holds the position of principal cellist of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Malaga.
